The administrative subject file of the Division of State and Local Finance administrator, including correspondence and related material from each of the bureaus in the division. Included are policy level materials on such issues as administrative rules; assessment, appraisal, and equalization of residential and manufacturing property; levy limits; legislation; municipal audits; property tax relief; real estate transfer fees; utility and mining taxation; and school aids information. The processed portion of this series is summarized above, dates 1977-1989, 1993-1994, and is described in the register. There are additional accessions dating 1989-1999 (bulk 1992-1995) which are described below.

The Dept. of Revenue's Division of State and Local Finance was created in 1972 under Chapter 125, Laws 1971. Under this law, the municipal audit function was transferred to the Dept. of Revenue (WIHV85-A365) from the Dept. of Administration. A Bureau of Municipal Audit (WIHV85-A774) was placed within the Division along with bureaus which oversaw the property, utility, and special taxes, and assistance to local governments.
